Seating Guide & Customisations
Rough Seating Guide (by table length)
As a general guide, our dining tables are designed to seat:
- 120 cm – Seats approx. 4 to 6 people
- 150 cm – Seats approx. 4 to 6 people
- 180 cm – Seats approx. 6 to 8 people
- 210 cm – Seats approx. 8 to 10 people
- 240 cm – Seats approx. 8 to 10 people
Actual seating capacity will depend on chair size and how much elbow room you prefer, but the above is a useful starting point when choosing your table length.
Benches & Space-Saving Tip
For a space-saving setup, we recommend choosing a bench that is 30 cm shorter than the table length. This allows the bench to slide neatly underneath the table when not in use, helping to keep your dining area clear.
- This guideline applies to tables under 200 cm in length.
- For tables 200 cm and above, please contact us for personalised advice so we can ensure the best fit for your space.
Optional benches are typically available at 38 cm width, designed to complement the table and provide comfortable seating.
Custom Sizes & Bespoke Orders
Because every piece is handmade to order, you have the freedom to:
- Choose your table length (usually from 100 cm to 300 cm, longer upon request)
- Select the width to suit your room
- Add matching benches
- Discuss other custom details to match your style and space
If you’re unsure which size is best, simply measure your room, allow space for chairs/benches to be pulled out comfortably, and get in touch – we’re always happy to help you choose.
Assembly
Our tables are designed to be sturdy, yet straightforward to assemble at home.
• Most tables are delivered with the legs/base detached for safe transport.
• Assembly time is typically around 15 minutes.
• You’ll only need a basic screwdriver (and in some cases, we provide an appropriate tool such as an Allen key).
• All necessary fixings are included, and fixing points are pre-drilled where required.
Simply attach the legs/base to the underside of the tabletop using the supplied fixings, then carefully flip the table upright (we recommend two people for lifting larger pieces).

Delivery & Returns

- Most of the UK mainland benefits from free delivery.
- Some areas incur a surcharge of £50 due to additional distance, including (but not limited to):
North Scotland, Scottish Highlands, Cornwall, Devon, South Somerset and West Wales.
We work with trusted delivery partners, and for larger items we recommend having two people at home to help bring the table inside. If you have access limitations (stairs, narrow doorways, flats), please let us know in advance so we can advise.
Returns
Because every Clar Furniture table is handmade to order, we are not able to accept returns or exchanges on correctly supplied items where the product matches the order details.
For this reason, we strongly recommend double-checking your measurements and access before placing your order. If a correctly supplied item is still to be returned, the customer will be responsible for the cost of collection.
If your item arrives damaged or not as described, please contact us as soon as possible so we can resolve the issue.
